This multi-media production was an Anglo-French collaboration and finished touring this Autumn. The plot was inspired by the work of Forkbeard Fantasy who acted as mentors and involved a giant book that's illustrated pages came to life

A fun night out for all, with film, animation, song, live music (on celery, whisk and dodo) combining the best of traditional British humour (think dead parrots, dead dodos, lemmings singing songs about being misunderstood) with the surrealism of French physical theatre.
I saw the show on Sunday night and was laughing too much to keep a critical eye on the proceedings
It was like Monty Python - No The Mighty Boosh

The Descent of Man is a terrifically surreal and comic descent into controlled chaos. The plot centres on a giant book with artificial intelligence that is evolving but not necessarily in the right direction and as it evolves characters literally step out of the pages.
I have no idea of the plot, but the memory of a pile of small furry lemmings being shot (safely) into the audience will stay for a long time. As will the sight of Scunthorpe being blown up, repeatedly.
The show was commissioned by IVOC, with the Lemmings working in collaboration with French improvisational musician Samuel Gardens.
